Kbal Spean

Kbal Spean is an Angkorian archaeological site on the south-west slopes of the Kulen hills, roughly 50 km from Siem Reap.

Along a stretch of riverbed, 11th and 12th-century sculptors carved lingas, Vishnu reclining on the serpent Ananta, Shiva and Uma, and other Hindu motifs directly into the sandstone.

Reaching the carvings requires a walk of about 1.5 km uphill through forest. The waterfall at the end is at its best just after the rainy season.
